| | Kimberly Astrologo | 973 366-5906 | My cousins daughter is in jail and is pregnant. She has agreed to allow me to raise the baby if she cannot get into a Mommy and Me type program. She is a drug addict and is in need of rehab. The baby's father is in jail presently as well but is due to get out before the baby is born. Any suggestions to what I should do to get legal custodial care? | | | Sherece Phillips | 973-876-2299 | Hello,
I wanted information on how to become a foster parent. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. | | | Jeanette Petty | 973-770-3220 | Hi
Charles and I will be at the next meeting in September. Please bring us two back packs for boys age 17.
Thank You and see you at the meeting. | | | Amy Weston | 972-768-3528 | Hello, I have several questions. First, is anyone collecting halloween costumes this year? We've donated through a clothing drive at our school in the past, but that drive isn't happening this year. Second, I have a junior girl scout troop (fourth graders). We are looking for service projects for the girls to do. I'd like to find some things that are more than just donating stuff, although I realize that things are always needed. We are in Long Valley. Thanks! Amy Weston | | | Debbie Gorab | (201)3965297 | Hello, My husband and I have been cleaning out our home and have come across a number of loose leaf binders that are gently used and look like new. Are you able to use these to help supply backpacks? I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
Debbie Gorab | | | Saunjah Powell-Pointer | (908) 672-9689 | Hello!
I am a member of the Pi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Morristown, NJ. An important part of our national program is the Social Justice and Human Rights Initiative ~ These initiatives will address gender equality issues including: human trafficking and domestic violence, services for children with incarcerated parents, youth aging out of foster care and children in homeless shelters. Voter empowerment; access to technology; training of parents as advocates for educational and health care needs of children and support of the arts will be emphasized.
It would be most appreciated if someone would contact me about partnering with our organization to serve the needs of youth aging out of foster care and/or children with incarcerated parents.
One idea that we have is to identify senior-students of the aforementioned background who will be matriculating into college for academic scholarships. The application process opens soon and we would love to email you the application for distribution to foster care children in your network who can meet the academic requirements.
Feel free to contact me at 908-672-9689 for more information.
Kind regards, Saunjah Powell-Pointer, Chaplain Education Committee Member Pi Theta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. http://www.pithetaomega.com/Pi_Theta_Omega_-_AKA/Welcome.html

The Bruce Braley Bill, H.R. 4373. It extends the refundable adoption credit beyond 2011. In my office alone for this past tax year,
I was able to get more than $150,000 in additional tax refunds for our adoptive families. This even includes
families who adopted in 2005 and knew nothing about the refundable adoption credit.
Please call Rep Debbie Wasserman-Schultz NOW to let her know we support this legislation:

CCAI Listserv
Dear Friends of CCAI:
We are contacting you today to ask you to join with others in the adoption community to try to Save the Adoption Tax Credit from extinction. As you know, the adoption tax credit is due to "sunset" at the end of this year unless Congress and the Administration act. In February the President proposed making the adoption tax credit permanent in the budget he submitted to Congress for fiscal year 2013. And, a bipartisan group of members of Congress also support making it permanent, but its fate is uncertain.
Attached is a letter from a number of organizations in the adoption and foster care communities thanking the President for his support for the adoption tax credit and indicating that the adoption community is prepared to defend the adoption tax credit and fight for its continuation. The response from the Administration, the Hill and the media to the letter, and a related press release, has been very positive. In fact, the response has made us realize that the adoption community needs to continue such joint efforts in order to insure the continuation of the adoption tax credit. In order to try to do that, a group has formed the ADOPTION TAX CREDIT WORKING GROUP, a national coalition to advocate for the adoption tax credit. And, we want your organization to be part of the coalition.
Also attached, please find a letter from the Adoption Tax Credit Working Group’s Executive Committee with information on how to join this important Working Group. Thank you, and we look forward to working with you. If you have any questions now, or, in the future, about this coalition and its campaign to Save the Adoption Tax Credit contact me or any of the organizations that are already part of the Working Group.
Sincerely,
Becky Weichhand
